Beals is a historian of migration and media at Loughborough University, exploring the ways in which the movement of peoples and ideas intersect, and an advocate of the Digital Humanities, using computer-aided methodologies to explore historical materials in new and unexpected ways. An ardent supporter of open research and social media for academic purposes, she is happy to discuss her research and teaching through the various networks with which she is affiliated. Opinions expressed on this are her own and should not be considered representative or endorsed by any organisation with which she works.
